Ahmed El-Massry talks with us about the advantages of extended depth of focus (EDOF) and trifocal IOLs, and how they are making progress to meet the expectations of patients. There are numerous factors that determine the most suitable lens including age, clarity of the lens and presence of cataract, and patient counselling and understanding are important in decision making. There are several ways in which these lenses can be improved in the future, such as suitability for different pupil sizes.
