Lisa Nijm, MD, JD

After graduating summa cum laude from Benedictine University, Dr. Nijm was accepted into a dual M.D., J.D. degree program through Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and School of Law. She completed residency at the renowned Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary and a top ranked corneal and refractive fellowship at the University of California at Davis, Dr. Nijm then blazed a path to establish a cornea clinic in an underserved region of Illinois. It was there that she became the first surgeon in central Illinois to perform femtosecond LASIK.

Dr. Nijm is an international lecturer, a published, peer-reviewed author, and has received numerous recognitions, including being named one of the top 50 most influential Ophthalmologists in the world on The Ophthalmologist’s Power List 2019 and multiple times since then. She also founded RealWorldOphthalmology.com to serve as an educational resource to aid young ophthalmologists in successfully transitioning from training to practice.
